Business Casual Superstar: Floral Skirts in Winter

Back this week with the same skirt from last week, only this time I’m going to show you how to put a wintry look together using that skirt. Last time we used bright colors to work with the bold floral print, and today, we want something cooler and more subdued.

Let’s see what I came up with.

ww7 Business Casual Superstar: Floral Skirts in WinterKnee-length tulip skirt ………. $24
Pointelle Sweater in Cello Brown ………. $8.70
Nina Fello Pumps ………. $34.99
Jessica McClintock Clutch in Brown ………. $20
Chaps Cabochon Bracelet in Coral ………. $10.40

We have the same skirt you saw last time, and in order to make it part of a winter ensemble, I knew we needed a darker sweater. I didn’t want to pick a dark red or maroon or purple sweater because it just felt too matchy-matchy, and I’m not generally a matchy-matchy person.

So I opted to go for brown, which always works well with these warm colors. The brown kind of matches the centers of the flowers, but not enough that it’s too perfect. I hate too perfect. But it works with the same color, and it’s a cute, delicate little sweater. I paired it with matching shoes and a little clutch, and added a pink-red-purply bracelet, since the sleeves are a little short.

The brown keeps this look dark and understated, so it’s not all bright and summery, making it an appropriate office look for these colder months.
