The great thing about solid dresses (in just about any color) is that they make a great palette for your accessories. Black and grey dresses are probably the easiest, but purple and olive green are right up there, because basically all other colors work with these colors, so your options are endless!
I picked a charcoal grey/black dress today, with military stylings that are so popular right now, and added some fun accessories.
Here, I started off with the grey/black dress. It’s cute, flattering, double breasted (which I’m kind of lukewarm about usually, but I like it here) and with those cute military buttons.
I wanted black touches in the accessories so I could tie patent black pumps to this. I like patent black pumps. I think they’re stylish and pretty. So I’d already basically decided on the shoes I wanted, but wanted to make sure that the accessories had black incorporated in them as well, so it wouldn’t just look like I got dressed in the dim morning light and thought my charcoal was actually black.
So I found this great scarf from Rachel Roy, a designer I really love, even though I don’t love all of her pieces, and it’s got those great red hues. Finding a red bracelet was simple enough, and I really liked this cuff bracelet from Aldo.
Everything ties together, and we’ve got a great colorful look that was created on top of a charcoal grey palette that is that stylish knit dress.
