Student Fashion: From Class to Classy

by Jessica Braun Gervais | July 9th, 2014

The best part about college? Being able to wake up ten minutes before class, throw your hair up in a messy bun and rush off  in your pajamas. Unfortunately, wearing your boyfriend’s sweatshirt with stains from last night’s dinner is not so easily welcomed in the professional work world.  But that’s okay, because here are some alternatives to your favorite Monday sweats that are just as comfy but a thousand times more chic!

Instead of flip flops, try ballet flats:

Just because you are in a professional workplace, doesn’t mean anyone expects you to strap on the stilettos.  Instead, try a ballet flat like the Audrey Brooke Cici Flat.  These shoes are both timeless and comfortable.  Not only will your feet look great, but they also won’t be killing you by the end of the day.

Feeling daring or want something with a little more sass? Try a wedged shoe, such as the BCBGeneration Erikka Wedge Pump.

Instead of sweatpants try loose fit pants.

The great thing about Loose Fit Pants by H&M is they feel like your favorite sweatpants, but if styled correctly, can be an appropriate alternative for the office.  Keep your look professional by pairing these pants with heals and a polished blouse.

Instead of a zip-up hoodie try an over-sized cardigan:

The key with making an over-sized anything come off as professional, is making sure that all your other pieces are properly fitted.  I like the BDG London Cardigan from Urban Outfitters.  It looks great draped over a streamline dress as well as a printed top and straight legged pants.
