Student Fashion: Pink for a Cause

by Jessica Braun Gervais | October 15th, 2014

As I am sure most of you know, October is breast cancer awareness month.  While there are many great ways to get involved with the cause, such as donating, fundraising and volunteering, one of the simplest ways to show support for the millions of women and men, who have suffered from breast cancer is to wear pink. In honor of breast cancer survivors and fighters everywhere, here are some pink office-ready items for you.

There is no easier way to incorporate pink into the office than a pink dress.  I love this hot pink, knee-length Jacquard Dress by Zara.

Want something more subtle? Try this Pink White Collar Dress by Lavish Alice.

But you don’t have to just stick to solid pinks.  Mix it up with a fun patterned dress such as this Pink Pleats Dress from Avenle.

And of course dresses aren’t the only pink office-appropriate items. Bring a pop of color to your wardrobe with a pink blouse such as the Lace and Stretch Cotton Peplum Tee from Express or the Pure Colora Blouse from Sosie.  Pair them with black slacks or a black pencil skirt and neutral shoes to keep your look crisp and professional.

Want a statement pant? Try the Columist Pants from Express in pale pink.  Keep the top half of your outfit simple with a solid black or white shirt.

It’s not just wearing pink, it’s about using the color to spark a conversation. So when someone compliments you on your pink apparel, be sure to follow up your “thank you” with an explanation of your color choice, along information on the causes and prevention of breast cancer.   Your conversation could save a life, and that basically make you Superwoman. A very stylish, pretty-in-pink, Superwoman.
