From the Classroom to the Cubicle: The Music Industry

Internships in the music industry can vary depending on what exactly you want to do within the industry. For example, you may be an intern for music journalism and report on different bands and concerts. You may  intern at a big company where you simply file and copy. And of course, you may be a musician. Each position is very different and requires different means of dress. There is one rule that never changes: When you are in an “office” or “corporate” setting, you don’t want to stand out very much and should always tone it down. But, if you are in a more laid back setting this is one industry where you can show your personal rocker style.

In the outfit I put together above, I focused on keeping it simple and classy while adding some rock star style into the mix. Black skinny jeans are a good place to start because it makes the additional pieces easier to match, and if you can tuck a shirt into them, it makes for a clean look. In my outfit I added a pair of studded flats and a leather vest to go out the tee. Nothing screams rock n’ roll like leather and studs!
