Toast to Tuesday: 31 Flavors of the Body Type and the Coordinating Pencil Skirt

Growing up, when I would think of what people generally wore to work, I would think of what my parents would wear. My mom, with her slim figure would always wear a very elegant suit – usually a pencil skirt with a matching blazer and pumps. So, as I grew up I assumed that this is what all women wore, that is until I entered the workforce myself. It was at that time that I realized not all women had a perfect figure, and that many had to venture out into options other than a pencil skirt and blazer.

That being said, I would like to dedicate this “Toast to Tuesday” to all of the women whose stomach, hips, “money-maker”, or ladies up top, make it nearly impossible to wear the classic pencil skirt and matching blazer. As we all know there are 31 flavors of ice cream (32 if you include Winter Wonderland: only available during the winter season). Yet this doesn’t apply to just ice cream, but rather to women everywhere. We all come in different flavors: Tall, wide, flat, lanky etc; and there is a pencil skirt equivalent for each of us.

For those of you who carry a little extra in the stomach region, try a pantsuit with a long cami underneath to cover all lines (and rolls). If you’re on the shorter end, get your self a pair of big girl heels (nothing creates a slimming look better then a heel). If you are extremely tall, a pair of jeggings (jeans +leggings) with a ballet flat would create a flattering look for your long legs – however beware of the length of your pencil skirt. It may be knee-length on your colleague but with your added inches, it may reach toward inappropriate heights.

What is your body type? Let us know and we would be happy to give you our advice!
