Business Casual Superstar: Snazzing Up An Outfit With a Pretty Scarf

One of my go-to outfits is jeans and a cute top, but the challenge sometimes is how to snazz that up and make it a little fancier, a little more polished, a little more pulled together so it doesn’t just look like I was out walking the dog or returning library books.
Heels are the easy answer, but one of my favorite ways to dress up jeans and a top is a pretty patterned scarf. It’s a feminine accessory that adds a touch of fun to the ensemble.
Here’s what I came up with:
Bootcut Jeans ………. $15

I went with simple boot cut jeans, in my usual flattering dark wash. If I’m using jeans in a business casual outfit, then I’m going to use dark jeans. They’re easily the most formal of the bunch, aside from being slimming.
I picked out this simple top with appropriate full length sleeves, and paired it with this striped scarf that pulls in the color of the shirt. I like patterned scarves with solid tops, and solid scarves with patterned tops. They just work the best.
And I finished the outfit off with sensible (kind of sensible?) brown pumps because I’m sick of constantly using black ones. It’s good to mix things up every once in a while.

LikeCute! I love wearing a scarf with an outfit if the weather calls for it in San Francisco or LA. Yesterday it was forecasted to be only 56 degrees in San Francisco, so I tossed a scarf on with my t-shirt and cardigan. Bonus: it's a wonderful pop of color by your face under a jacket!
