The Working Man: Your Work Wear Shopping Destination

I have taken almost every male friend of mine shopping for work clothes at least once during the course of our relationship. And each time, they all end up buying the most items at H&M. And each time, they are all surprised that the discount retailer fit them the best and offered pretty decent quality for the price point. So now I’m sharing my men’s shopping secret with you, dear readers. Go to the men’s section in H&M and try on some of their sport coats, jersey blazers and dress pants. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Now, I’m not able to take all of you shopping, but H&M has a very handy e-commerce tool for those of you needing entire outfits. Once you are at the item’s product page, the site kindly provides you with several items that go well with that particular product. Very handy when you’re just a little unsure. (Don’t worry, all of us have those moments and a guiding hand is always appreciated.)

The one thing I’d caution you on is sizing. H&M does run a bit on the slimmer side, so try on multiple sizes if you can. Also be aware of sleeve and pant length. H&M runs tall, which is a relief to men with height, but for those under 6′, you may end up taking some items to the tailor. The store also features different cuts of clothing. So if one pair of pants don’t fit you right, another in the same size may fit perfectly.

You may have to do a bit of a personal fashion show, but have some extra coffee and plan to take yourself out for a beer after. At the end of all of my male friend shopping trips, we always ended up at a local pub. It’s just the right thing to do. Cheers to your new working wardrobe!
