Today’s Coveted Working Looks

Many women in the workforce believe that a suit needs to be paired with a blouse. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Camisoles (such as the one below by Natori) are ideal for wearing underneath work suits, especially in the summer. Plus camisoles are most of the times much more comfortable than a button-down collared blouse with sleeves that can bunch and stretch in uncomfortable ways underneath your suit jacket. With the obvious advice of “don’t take your jacket off in the workplace” as the camisole is definitely not appropriate for work on its own, but with traditional business attire, the camisole not only provides you with comfort during the workday, but it can assist in giving you the fashionable edge that your colleagues – and competitors – may be lacking.

Cardigans, blouses and suit jackets are all very prominent pieces in a working wardrobe. This wool cap-sleeved top by Moschino Cheap & Chic combines all three items in one. With a pair of skinny black slacks and round-toed patent pumps and a statement pendant necklace, this top would work in making a powerful and fashionable working statement. And for versatility, you could definitely pair this with a pair of skinny jeans and sandals for a chic after-work or weekend look.

Love the camisoles! I've been doing that for a long time. It's so comfortable. Yes, I agree, don't take your jacket off in the office.

In the summer, I'll wear a mandarin jacket buttoned to the top with nothing underneat except a bra. It's fun at the airport security when they are trying to get me to take my jacket off and put it through the scanner . . .
