I do love featuring in my Coveted Working Looks series various pieces and outfits that inspire creativity to add to the working wardrobe. These may include items and looks that may not be considered a regular part of business attire, however they can definitely be incorporated into it through additions or edits. For today’s post, however, I’m going back to the suit.
With that being said, however, I’m still maintaining the sense of flexibility with the suit. I do adore a suit that is meant to be worn in its entirety, but we are all busy people and sometimes mixing and matching is just more…economical. Plus a pair of great trousers or a stand-alone suit jacket can make a statement definitely worth making at the office.
For example, the above Theory blazer with its sleeve detailing would work with skinny jeans on a casual Friday or as shown below, with skinny trousers with heels for a true working statement.
Also, this blazer (also from Theory) is a great statement piece with a pair of black trousers to get away from the suit, but just a great jacket.
And the suit pants, which also make a great statement, really stand out on their own. Add a simple blouse and a pair of black pumps, and you can work this outfit just as much as if you wore the whole suit.
Going back to simplicity, this gray Theory suit is so beautiful, you may ask why you would wear the pieces separately? This is a situation when mixing and matching may be possible, but may take away from the outfit they were meant to create. Also take a look at the pant leg. I love it when suits feature pant legs with a bit of flare or wideness to really flatter in height and balance with the rest of the suit. These pant legs just scream for a great pair of heels. Would you argue?
