Today’s Coveted Working Look: Chinese Laundry Ballet Flat

by Rachel Yeomans | August 22nd, 2011

I saw these ballet flats, and immediately imagined myself wearing them with a polka-dot dress (white background, back polka-dots), red belt and oversized sunglasses. Granted as these are open-toed, that may have to be my Friday outfit. But nonetheless, it’ll be fabulous.

These are adorable! But, I just know they would give me the worst blisters on the backs of my feet. Seriously, I just don't get why I'm the only one who has trouble wearing cute flats! It's not fair. :( lol Any tips on avoiding this prob, while still getting to wear cute, structured flats like these? I use blister Band-Aids sometimes...Thanks!

@professiongal Oh yes I hear exactly what you're saying! One of my tricks, especially with the stiff construction that flats like these have, is I put them in a ziploc bag when I first get them, and I steam them in the shower (obviously making sure they don't get wet). It really helps stretch them out and conform to your feet. I also make sure I have Foot Petals (http://www.zappos.com/foot-petals-triple-threat-triple-pak-black-iris) on the backs of all my new shoes until they're properly worn in. Hope this helps, and thanks so much for the comment!

@theworkwardrobe Awesome idea! No one's ever offered the steaming shower tip to me before. I'll try them tonight on a pair I bought almost a year ago that I haven't worn since the first day I wore them to work and I had to have my boyfriend practically care me home due to blisters. :( Excited to try this out! :) THANK YOU!

@professiongal My pleasure! :) I hope it works out for you! I would hate for those shoes to continue gathering dust in your closet! Let me know how it goes!!!
