The Royal Wedding: Working Hats Away from the Occasion and Into Your Workday

I came to the following conclusion after watching the Royal Wedding and thinking about thinking about lady’s wedding dresses. Ladies and gentlemen, we need more hats in our lives and wardrobes.

If you want to add immediate elegance and style to your ensemble, a chic hat is definitely the way to go. It immediately dresses up your look and adds an air of class that a mere scarf couldn’t dream of coming close to.

Hats are not nearly as plentiful as they used to be (and I’m not talking about casual headwear such as baseball caps). But I say why only keep them for a special occasion? I’m not saying you wear an incredibly dressy hat to your next board meeting. But what’s wrong with adding a fedora or a flouncy-brimmed hat on your next commute or meeting clients for happy hour? Think just how much greater an impression you will make. Don’t overdo it, make sure it matches your outerwear, and make sure…above all…you work it!

I love hats, so glad you did a story on them. I wear them around friends and school all the time but I haven't done it to work yet, must put that on my to do list. I just wish more places sold hatboxes or included them when you purchased a hat like in the 50s (a la marilyn and jane russel going shopping in paris in gentlemen prefer blondes), having a hard time finding places to put them.O_O

@gcicero Thanks so much for the comment! I couldn't agree more that I wish hats would come back with gusto. And fabulous nod to Gentlemen Prefer Blondes - perfect anecdote to the fashions!
