Men’s business wear for fall is turning lean and mean, all the while putting power back into the sartorial vocabulary.
See it as a sign of men sobering up their wardrobe in response to the recession or, more optimistically, an indicator they are gearing up for the economic recovery. Either way, the deadly sharp suit is the uniform of choice for the back-to-work crew.
Mike Peters, the Western Canadian director for luxury menswear retailer Harry Rosen, says “We’re seeing a real big push to go back to, I don’t want to say ‘power suit,’ but people want to look and feel confident and feel a sense of power. People want to look their best, and that’s why you see the return of the three-piece suit.”
