Fancy-schmancy! What is too fancy for work and what is not?

I guess the first factor to consider is just exactly where it is that you do what you do. Of course, one just wouldn’t wear the same work attire to a day at the convenience store as one would to a day at the construction site or as one would to a day at the night club, now would one?

For the sake of brevity and simplicity (not that I am easily confused or distracted!) what say we just stick to our day at the standard American business office, eh?

Now ladies, many of us have, or desire to have, our very own LBD (little black dress). And as much as we adore it when we actually do find just the right one, it is not generally appropriate office attire. However, let us imagine that you have an evening event to attend later that night and you will not have the opportunity to change clothes after work, or every other item in your home is at the dry cleaners or in the hamper, or you blew your entire wardrobe budget on this one dress. Consequently, you must now take this dress and in the immortal words of Mr. Tim Gunn, “make it work.”
