Let’s be honest – the only thing that most airports and fashion have in common is that they both utilize runways. The enhanced security at airports is so stressful that many travelers focus on comfort instead of fashion. However, the business traveler has to successfully find a way to meld feeling good with looking fabulous. Here are four tips that will take you from the plane, train or automobile to a power meeting in style.

1.Bye Bye Wrinkles: Linens and silks are oh-so-pretty but their tendency to wrinkle makes them less than ideal for business travel. Try comfortable and fashion-forward matte jersey instead. Not only is it virtually wrinkle proof, but matte jersey moves with your body and feels less confining than many other fabrics. Natural fabric blends with a touch of spandex or Lycra are also wrinkle fighters.

2. Keep it Simple: Build your look around a simple basic such as a sheath, wrap dress or un-fussy suit. While traveling, match these classic pieces with ballet flats for comfy feet and a wrap to combat chilly plane cabins. Unless you are an athlete en route to the Olympics, sneakers and hoodies are for the gym and not for traveling!

3. Add Some Pizzazz: The right accessories really bring a look together. A classic strand of pearls is always a safe choice but a distinctive scarf, brooch, belt buckle or bracelet are easy ways to add some panache to your outfit. Interesting accessories are also great conversation starters. If you prefer not to wear your jewelry while traveling, pack your baubles in a jewelry roll and secure them in the zippered section of your purse.

4. Be Prepared: Carve out space in your carry-on bag for your essentials and emergency items. Must-haves include shoes for your meeting, mini lint brush, sewing kit, deodorant, toothbrush and paste, stain removing wipes, extra pair of panties and hosiery, and a cardigan or wrap.
