Filling in the Holes in my Winter Work Wardrobe Results in a Depressing Realization: I am Officially Dull

It is official. I am boring. Or should I say, my clothing is boring. I recently went through my sweaters and long-sleeved tops in preparation for the cold temperatures ahead. Everything was black or gray with a hint of dark purple thrown in. Winter is already a bit on the bleak side regarding the color wheel, so I decided to check out some online sales to see if I can kick up the color in my winter wear. What did I end up with? Grey and black and one dark red top. No embellishments, no pattern, all solid, all useful. Granted I would wear these pieces of clothing a great deal through the colder months, but I find it somewhat frustrating that when I have a specific goal of giving my wardrobe some new life I come out falling right back into my everyday look. I know I need to accept who I am and what I wear because honestly, I probably wouldn’t grab a bright green or pink top on first instinct - I’d go for black or white or gray. So if I bought anything that says “loud” or “show-stopping”, it most likely wouldn’t be worn all that often. Throughout the years of discovering my personal style, it’s interesting having the realization that my personal style is a perfect style for business. I admit, that doesn’t make me feel ecstatic, but I suppose it’s somewhat nice knowing I’m saving money on clothing purchases.
