So I originally discovered Quarterly via a tweet from Nina Garcia. She declared – in the 140-character limit – that there was a mere month left to purchase her Quarterly gift box.
Wait, I can receive a gift from Nina Garcia? More information must be had.
A bit more information about Quarterly. You pay an average of $50 every three months, and you receive a gift from a celebrity “curator” featuring hand-picked items based on a certain theme. Nina Garcia’s for instance, is around fashion, style and beauty. Bill Nye the Science Guy’s is around science. Book Riot’s is around books. You get the picture.
Now for the announcement…yep, you probably figured it out from the headline…I’m a curator on Quarterly! My page was launched just last week and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of their mission.
Now you ask…are my themes? I thought you’d never ask…
- Fashion (you’re shocked I’m sure)
Yes, all the things I love and adore, and speak about via social media quite often. Therefore, I want to take the conversation to the next level and offer you not just my thoughts, opinions and ideas, but also as a gift! For those of you who don’t know me personally, I adore gift giving. It’s one of my favorite things to do – and not just for holidays and events.
For instance, one of my close friends was saying that he kept forgetting to buy milk because he was so busy with work, so I bought him a gallon of milk and showed up at his work to give it to him the next day. I found an amazing one-of-a-kind belt at a boutique when I was traveling and bought it for one of my close friends who adores belts made just like the one that I discovered. I bought pet toys for the entire office as I was already at the store buying cat food and I thought it’d be fun as everyone at work happened to own animals. It makes me feel good having other people know that they’re being thought of. That, in itself, is one of my favorite gifts to give.
I grew up with my mother stating that there is nothing more kind than an act of random kindness, and I guess you can say it sunk in.
So dear readers, I can’t tell you how much fun I’ve had putting together this amazing gift box for all of you! It’s only been a week and the box is already well worth over $50…in fact, a handful of you will receive a box that is well over $300!
You will be receiving gift items that are truly unique. That’s another aspect about my gift-giving. I’m not traditional. These items are fun, different and worthy of many-a conversation starter. That’s how I give gifts. You won’t know what you’re getting, but you know it’s going to be good. And no, I’m not going to tell you what’s in it. I like surprises too darn much.
So I hope you decide to accept my gift and pay the $50 (yes I know it’s not quite a free gift, but like I said, you’re getting a bang for your buck with this one!) for you, for a friend, for a family member or for whoever you feel could use some fashion in their lives…and technology…and literature…and wine… .
Thank you for all of your support through all these years since launching TheWorkingWardrobe. This is a big step for me, and I’m truly flattered to be a part of the Quarterly curation team. Cheers to you, for giving me this great gift.
