Remember my recent revelation about my beauty regimen? After learning a few new tips about makeup application, I received makeup brushes from the Silk collection from Soho Beauty (and even an adorable travel kit!) to try to take these lessons and apply them during my morning pre-work makeup routine.

Here is what I received:

• Kabuki brush
• Concealer brush
• Blush brush
• All Over Eyeshadow brush
• Crease brush
• Summer Safari 3-piece wristlet

I have been using the brushes for about two weeks now, and I now have my new beauty regimen down pat! And I’m really excited to say that the brushes live up to their collection name. They really are quite silk-like. You can really tell this with the blush brush and the crease brush. As silly as it sounds, they almost feel fluffy! I felt like I was five years old again playing with my mom’s powder brush and thinking how utterly glamorous I was.

For these past few weeks, they have held up wonderfully well and overall I am extremely happy! And I really chose well with the Kabuki brush. I admit, I primarily picked it as one of the brushes Soho Beauty would send me because I liked the name. Each brush comes inside a plastic pack with a beauty tip and cleaning instructions (nice touch!). I didn’t know this, but according to the tip, the Kabuki brush is actually best for people who use mineral powders versus foundation, which I do. It really does blend the makeup wonderfully (much better than my previous enormous powder brush), and it doesn’t waste as much powder as my other brush did.

My greatest excitement though is the crease brush. I admit I didn’t even know a crease brush existed before being introduced to it through Soho Beauty. You know how some women are able to have their eyeshadow blend slightly from the bottom lid into their top lid without appearing too harsh? Well, I think they accomplish that using a crease brush! It’s genius – why? Because it’s easy and always looks good!

Now…for the finished look:

I admit I’m incredibly simple with my makeup, so I apologize if you were expecting something more shocking. But I prefer having my makeup application make it appear that I’m not wearing much – if any – makeup. What I’m wearing (which I wear pretty much every day):

• TRUE Fair concealer and highlighter
• Nars Torrid blush
• Chanel Spice quad eyeshadow
• Topshop Kohl eyeliner
• Maybelline Volume Express mascara
• Nars Verdiana lipstick
• Buxom Dominique lip gloss
