What I Wear to Work: M.M. LaFleur Summer Styles

by Rachel Yeomans | August 13th, 2014

As our #mmsummer giveaway wrapped up (congratulations to our winner!), I wanted to try out these four fabulous dresses and take them for a spin! I happened to be working out of my parents’ house in Wisconsin, so the backdrop isn’t quite the typical office setting, but you can’t argue how gorgeous it is. And thank you, Dad, for being my patient camera man.

First we have the Sarah 3.0 in black pique and sky pique.

Known for her structured shoulder detail, the original Sarah has a cult following among MM devotees. But now that it’s summer, we thought she needed to let her hair down. Enter cotton piqué—lightweight, breathable, and beloved by country-club-goers from Palm Beach to Kennebunkport. In a work of ingenious fashion alchemy, we’ve combined this classic polo material with a woven synthetic to create the perfect summer fabric: a sharp-looking, machine-washable, odor-resistant blend that will keep you cool all season long. Neat enough for the office but relaxed enough for a beachside barbecue, this dress has a discreet waffle weave for a hint of texture. Whether you’re sitting courtside at Wimbledon or just sipping Arnold Palmers at the yacht club, the Sarah will look spot-on.

Insert outfit change here. Below we have the Eliza in gray and navy with a matching belt for each.

We would never speak ill of summer, but as any city girl knows, the heat can wreak havoc on an outfit. Thankfully, we’ve got the Eliza to keep us fresh during those sticky subway rides. Light, breathable, and machine-washable, this dress is all about laid-back summer style. Made from a high-tech Japanese terrycloth, this dress has the feel of a polished, all-grown-up, cotton tee. Smartly rolled sleeves and a collarbone-flattering boat neck keep things neat but breezy. Wear it loose for days by the beach, or add a contrasting black Greenwich Avenue belt (included with the dress) for an office-friendly silhouette. Whether you’re working through the summer or yacht-hopping on the Côte d’Azur, this is the only dress you’ll want to wear.

I also wore the Michael Kors black pumps, Henri Bendel jewelry and Sukari cross-body (shown as a clutch) with the Eliza.

My personal favorite? If you follow me on Instagram, you probably recognized the Eliza in navy as I’ve already donned it to the office. And the Eliza is definitely my favorite. It’s the most comfortable dress I’ve worn this summer and I received a ton of compliments on it throughout the day. All the dresses were insanely comfortable, giving and lightweight. If you need summer dresses for the office, I urge you to even consider getting one of each.

Thank you M.M. LaFleur for letting me play dress-up!
