Well, it seems as though summer has come and passed here in San Francisco – last week it was an incredibly 85 degrees for days on end, which was absolutely beautiful. I’ve never personally seen it get that warm here in the city, since we’re normally ensconced in fog, but you can bet everyone enjoyed it while they could! It certainly got me in the mood for summer, that’s for sure. I’ll be heading out on a mini-vacation over Memorial Day weekend to visit with my parents and head to wine country, so I’m in the perfect mindset for simple, breezy summer dresses. My top pick at the moment? Tory Burch’s darling Silk Blouson Dress.
It’s okay, I can hear you swooning from here. First of all, let’s talk about silk. It’s an incredible fabric, and yes, it’s quite delicate. This will be an investment dress, and one that you’ll be worried about spilling on or accidentally rubbing makeup on. That’s all right – some of the most beautiful things in the world are delicate and need to be handled accordingly. But despite being delicate, silk has gorgeous drape, as exemplified in this dress. I love how the top of the dress is ever-so-slightly blous-y and breezy, then contours gently into a pencil skirt. Perfect for anywhere from the office (add a cardigan or light-colored blazer if you need to cover your shoulders – and swap the sandals for close-toed espadrilles or flats), to church or to a summer wedding.
This dress is flattering, simple, and luxurious – the perfect kind of dress for the woman on the go in the summertime. I’m already daydreaming about wearing this dress while wine-tasting in Napa, though truth be told I’ll probably be in something a little more casual (hey, a girl can dream!).
