Today’s Coveted Working Look: Falling Petals Dress

by Anne Dreshfield | May 7th, 2013

Good news: my hunt for a graduation dress is over! After a lot of online and in-person hunting, I eventually found the perfect graduation dress at Ann Taylor. Surprised? To be honest, I was, just a little bit. I often go in and out of love with Ann Taylor as they’ve struggled to find their voice in the industry for the last couple of years. It seems as if they’re entirely after my heart now, though, because I absolutely can’t stay away! Stop it, Ann Taylor, or you might just make me bankrupt.

Behold, my graduation dress! I found it when Ann Taylor had 50% off dresses last week, and of course, there were about a dozen pages to go through. While I was scrolling through the many, many options, this dress caught my eye. After going through almost all of the choices, this was the one I knew I wanted, and I had to act fast! The dress was a fantastic price on sale, so I ordered two sizes and hit the order button. Done and done!

The dress is called the Falling Petals Dress on the website, and I have to say that I love that name. From far away, the pattern looks quite delicate, but up close it almost turns abstract. I love how bright the flower petals are, and it’s a very crisp dress for spring and summer — perfect for my graduation ceremony, which will be held in the early evening. Also, the colors go surprisingly well with my graduation cap and gown, which is seafoam green (yes, you read that right!). I’m excited that the dress will transition well into my working wardrobe after graduation, too. I didn’t want to buy another dress that wouldn’t be appropriate for work and would just sit in my closet, and the Falling Petals Dress fit the bill! PS: The dress is still on sale, too! Go grab it while you can!

When have you made a purchase that would fit in well with your working wardrobe and a special occasion?
