Today’s Coveted Working Look: Brightblock Shift

by Anne Dreshfield | January 23rd, 2013

I’m officially back at school, and LA kindly greeted me with 80 degree weather (!), so I’m hungry for cool, breezy fabrics and satisfyingly saturated colors to mirror the sunshine. I have to say, I’ve been absolutely adoring some spring collections so far, including Anthropologie‘s latest looks. One dress in particular caught my eye–I wanted to reach into my screen, grab it, and slip it on right away for running errands around campus! Her name? The new Brightblock Shift dress in a lovely blue motif.

Isn’t this dress just a breath of fresh air? The color blocking is right on trend, but isn’t too trendy to be unwearable in another couple of seasons. The length of the sleeves is unexpected and helps to elongate the body, while the gradient from light to dark colors is slimming and also lengthening. If you work in a more conservative office, your only concern might be the length–be sure to try this dress on and see where it falls on your leg to make sure it will work for you.

My favorite part of this particular product presentation is the way Anthropologie styled the Brightblock Shift dress. With colorful jewelry and a carefully placed belt, this dress transforms from an elegant shift that grazes your body to a figure-flattering dress that hugs your curves. Want to dress it down? Throw on a jean jacket and a patterned scarf!

What do you think? Could you see the lovely Brightblock Shift dress fitting into your working wardrobe rotation? I would personally love to get my hands on it for spring, summer, and early fall.
