Today’s Coveted Working Look: Anthropologie Banded Totem Shift

by Anne Dreshfield | July 17th, 2013

Dressing for work during the summer months can be tricky. I gravitate toward bright colors and simple fabrics, but a lot of what’s trendy right now is neon clothing that doesn’t always feel appropriate. I usually find a happy medium when bright colors meet timeless shapes, ensuring that the piece – whether it’s a dress, a top, a skirt, or a blazer – will be wearable for many seasons to come.

Anthropologie‘s Banded Totem Shift fits the bill perfectly. With a simple shape and a deliciously bright color palette, this dress is perfect for summer.

Every Tabitha piece is suffused with designer Beth Bowley’s signature style: romantic mixed with a hint of the unexpected. We love the surprising embroidery that adorns this striped sheath, the perfect candidate for a pair of sunny slingbacks and colorful cardi.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. I would style this dress with a simple pair of heels (I love how Anthropologie paired it with a pair of matching red sandals!), but if your workplace is a bit more conservative, toss on a cardigan that pulls from one of the many colors in the dress. Pull your hair back and pop in your favorite pair of dangling earrings, and you’ll dazzle at the office all summer long!
