Summer is quickly coming to a close, so in an attempt to get outside and enjoy the great weather I propose trying on an Exercise Meeting. We all know an important part to shaping a career is to build relationships. We do this by going out to drinks, coffee, and lunches to build connections; but these types of meetings can put a strain on both our wallets and our waistlines. As a transplant to sunny Southern California I’ve found that spending time with colleagues and clients out doors walking on the beach and hiking boosts our moods, cultivates creativity, and helps me to better connect. I realize that not everyone has trails and sandy beaches easily accessible, but a brisk walk or jog around a park is a great way to fit in those important meetings and take advantage of these last few weeks of sun. Plus it’s something different!
Knowing what to wear to an Exercise Meeting is always a little tricky. Exercise Meetings are not meant to replace your regular workouts, but to give you another way to connect and network while getting a little fresh air and exercise. The clothes you pick here need to be comfortable enough that you can sweat, but still give off an air of professionalism and style.
- Black is always a safe bet, it is very slimming, and hides sweat. Think of this as your base: dark yoga pants and a dark t-shirt or a structured tank top.
- When looking for the perfect yoga pant, remember, it is just like finding the right pair of jeans. Look for the silhouette that is best for your body shape. If they don’t make you smile, don’t buy them.
- Bring layers – this is where you can show off your style by wearing a light knit cowl neck sweater or a pashmina to add some color.
Now, go ahead and enjoy the sunshine!
