All right, everyone, I’m back in the freezing cold, snow, and gray skies of eastern Washington, and just about the only thing keeping me from the despair of leaving Hawaii has been the stack of magazines revealing spring’s hottest fashions. Have you looked at them yet? I love seeing trends unfold, from super-saturated colors to surprising takes on classic shapes. I surprised myself by even loving the wash of pastels taking over many spring lookbooks, particularly Nordstrom’s most recent magazine. One of my absolute favorite looks featured a gorgeous Halogen textured pencil skirt that really makes the outfit.
Think this skirt might be too much for your current wardrobe? Think again. Nordstrom’s description of the Halogen textured pencil skirt captures this unique piece perfectly: “a rustic stripe weave textures a pencil skirt modernized with an exposed zip closure at the side.” This skirt, in a lovely jade color Nordstrom calls “Jade Dynasty,” would pair wonderfully with the neutrals in your closet, including white, black, light gray, beige, or blush. For a surprising pop of color, go monochromatic, as pictured above, or pair with a blue-toned, saturated pink, a deep purple, a sunny yellow, or even tangerine. I think a lot of women (myself included!) underestimate the power and versatility of green, particularly this flattering shade of jade.
So, what do you think? Will you take the plunge into spring’s trends and pick up a piece like this Halogen textured pencil skirt? Let me know in the comments!
