A great work skirt is very hard to come by. I was sorting through some skirts the other day to wear with a new blouse and sweater, and almost every skirt was in style…around two years ago (remember the calf-length trend?). Putting most of the skirts that I have in storage in hopes that they’ll come back into fashion, I’ve been scouring the fashion websites to see what is out there for a fashion-forward and work appropriate skirt that will go with just about everything. Let’s face it; when it comes to dressing for work, we all need our go-to items for when we don’t feel like being very creative. And that skirt is the BB Dakota Caterina Skirt.
The Caterina Skirt is not only the perfect length for the office (finding this was difficult as everything is still fitting with the mini skirt trend) and the design is very body conscious friendly. It’s fitted but the stripes and angles will flatter versus accentuate. If you’re still self conscious about your hips or tummy area, tuck in a loose blouse, add a skinny belt (maybe a red belt for a pop of color!) and top it with a long boyfriend blazer. One of my favorite long blazers is the Reveur Blazer from Anthropologie.
It is the season of layers; take advantage of it! Oh, and at $50, this staple skirt will pay for itself quickly from season to season. Just put it in storage when another trend comes forward and it’ll be waiting for you when it comes back around.
