Today’s Coveted Working Look: Prada Sunglasses

by Anne Dreshfield | October 16th, 2014

I haven’t talked about sunglasses much, but the truth of the matter is that I love them. I love how they can so easily change a look, lift a mood, add some mystery, and are even healthy for you. Your eyes will thank you for saving them from squinting, trust me!

As much as I love sunglasses, that doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m wearing them indoors in the office. No, I’m not quite that cool. That being said, I wear them constantly to and from the office, and often slip them on while doing a coffee run or headed to a meeting. The sunglasses you’re wearing while running into a work friend outside your building, or slipping off as you catch the elevator to your office’s floor, can make as much of an impact as any other accessory you carry, so why overlook them?

Enter: Prada’s sunglasses, which are known for their reassuring weight, glamorous appeal, and just-barely-exotic flair. They’re incredibly well-made and durable – most women will tell you that their Prada sunglasses are their favorites, and have been with them for years. Check out a few of my favorites below.

The Prada 56mms are my favorites, and they’re actually headed my way as we speak! I ordered these online after trying on the colored tortoiseshell version in store and absolutely fell in love. These sunglasses are the definition of timeless: a classic aviator shape, with just a hint of gold detailing that Prada does so well. They’re not too large or heavy on the face, and, as far as I could tell when I was trying them on – universally flattering. Three different women tried them on near me, and yes, these sunglasses looked great on all of them.

I think these shades would look great on all face shapes, and adds just a bit glamour to an otherwise tried-and-true style. For those of you craving more color than just black, you’ll love Prada’s take on tortoiseshell, below, which is injected with blue. I almost got these instead of the black. Maybe they’ll end up on my Christmas list, who knows!

If you’re a fan of more feminine styles, I’m sure you know that Prada’s cat-eye styles are divine. Somehow, they manage to churn out amazing cat-eye sunglasses season after season, offering more vintage looks to updated cat-eyes that look like they just skittered off the runway at Fashion Week:

Slip these on and you’ll look like a movie star on your way to your first script reading, not a regular woman headed to work. I ordered these and ultimately decided they were just a tad too big for my face shape (they were actually too round – the bottom part of the sunglasses seemed to come too low on my face), but not before several women in my office told me I had to keep them. Someone even told me I looked very January Jones in them, which to me is one of the best compliments I could receive. That woman has style!

See? Instant glamour. Especially if they look like they’re made of snakeskin.

Of course, if aviator and cat-eye styles aren’t really your thing, Prada has you covered, too. I’ve listed a few other fantastically fashionable options for the working woman below. No matter which style you pick, Prada sunglasses are the cherry on top of an impeccable working wardrobe.

I've always been a huge fan of Gucci sunglasses. I love cat eye and this Voice looks really cool. Swirl sunglasses have been a great choice and I have seen every fashionista wearing them. Anyway, if you are looking for a more masculine touch, I strongly recommend aviator sunglasses: http://fashionallure.com/aviator-sunglasses/
