Pair Simplicity with Flair for Under $100

If anyone knows me well, they know that I’m the Queen of simplicity. I generally wear jeans and t-shirts and a ton of black…which is why I’m over the moon for this type of work outfit! Pair a well tailored collared shirt with a simple khaki skirt, or in this case, fitted trousers with a basic T-shirt; both styles can easily obtain that “wow” power with bright, chunky jewelry.

Here I’ve matched these Eggplant J. Crew Minnie Pants in Stretch Twill ($50) with a black Dorthy Perkins Crew Neck Tee ($9).  This ensemble is taken to the next level with this Bead You Adieu Necklace in bright yellow ($30), and gold Nell Accessories Double Plain Ring ($7.80). Pair this particular ensemble with nude flats for a casual day at your office, or dress it up and add a colored suede heel.

If you’re on a budget – or expanding your closet – always invest in well built, staple work items. If I like the way a pair of wide leg trousers fit, or the cut of a button up blouse, I buy 2-3 in different colors; that way, I always have basic essentials to build on. I pair them with fun prints or neutrals and then accent with big colorful accessories.  Cocktail rings, layered bracelets and dangle earrings are other great options. Look for pants and tops in purple and gold accents to stand out among the crowd this fall.
