When I was younger, my favorite part of the start of fall was heading to all the back-to-school sales for a new school wardrobe.   Back then, I bought new clothes (or my father did) because as a child, I was constantly growing.  So much so, that it was hard to believe I could actually fit into the clothes from the year before.  And even though I haven’t grown since the 7th grade (I was 5’4 in 7th grade and still am) I still manage to convince myself that my old clothes no longer fit and I need to purchase something new.

So on my quest to find some fall essentials, I came across the NYDJ ‘Olivia’ Colorblock Ponte Sheath Dress.  The long sleeves and dark neutral coloring make this knee-length dress the perfect fall office option.

I love color blocking.  It makes pieces more intriguing and unique without being too over the top or distracting.  I particularly like the color blocking of this piece.  It’s simplistic, yet intriguing to look at and the electric blue has a nice against the rest of the black dress.

I also like this dress because it can fit a variety of different styles. It’s pretty enough on its own for someone who is more of a minimalist, but it’s also an easy piece to jazz up with stilettos or a statement necklace.
