Business Casual: Military Theme for Under $100

The military theme – another must have trend for fall – blends a sense of danger with a dash of androgyny for an overall polished look that’s hard to conquer. I’m a sucker for double-breasted coats with brass buttons and black battlefront boots. I love this theme because it’s so versatile. It is offered in a broad range of styles that tap into the trend, from crisp dress clothes inspired by officers, to the more hipster interpretations of an urban warrior. The uniform will smarten any outfit, plus it comes in a good color range of flattering neutrals.
This twill Button Front Washed Jacket $39
fits the mold for fall. I love the military inspired front and how it’s offset by the femininely cinched 3/4-inch sleeves and ruched shoulders. I went for a feminizing effect with this shimmery Bloom Lace Tank in Mocha $22
with a curved hem, the button front and loose fit soften the hard lines of the jacket. I’ve paired both with a gorgeous cantaloupe French Connection Cleo Crepe Skirt $39.
The full skirt is the working woman’s alternative to the pencil: Not too girly, structured, yet flowy. The use of the fall color pallet in this piece works well with the khaki jacket, and the full lining with fitted waistband makes it work friendly. This business casual outfit projects confidence without any distracting details and allows you to stay on point in the office. Step out in platforms
or stick to the military theme and wear leather ankle boots
(depending on dress code of course).
