Black and gold are another must have for fall 2012. The two conquered the runways in New York, Paris, Milan and London for the 2012-2013 fall and winter collections. Many of the collections displayed depth in their pieces with embossed surfaces, sequins, brocade and foil and leaf work, combining the influences of the Renaissance period with both boho chic and modernism. But other influences whisper simple and sophisticated with layered gold embellishments on top of bold black pieces.
The best part is that this is an easy trend to follow. There are so many different ways to pair black and gold together. If you’re anything like me, you already have a closet full of black pieces, so you really only have to concern yourself with adding touches of gold here and there. Also look for accessories that combine the two colors, either with studded detailing or sequins to add flair to any outfit.
I love the subtly of this black and gold Dorothy Perkins lurex dress ($39). It’s a perfect way to incorporate this fashion trend in the office without drawing too much attention. The gold lurex front adds depth and definition to the black short sleeve dress and the belt breaks up all of the color. I paired it with this gorgeous Dorothy Perkins black scuba peplum jacket ($39). The tailored lines of the jacket mesh well with the dress creating an overall sophisticated look. This FOREVER 21 studded chain strap purse ($25) finishes off the outfit and the gold studded detailing reiterates the trend. Pair this under $100 outfit with sheer black tights and your favorite pair of suede black booties.
