Business Casual: Add Leather to Your Wardrobe for Under $100

by Jesse Wurm | August 16th, 2012

August is my favorite time of year; when fall collections finally hit the stores, the smell of autumn is in the air, but the heat of the Indian Summer is still among us. As we make the transition from late summer to fall, I always find it fun to integrate fall pieces with summer colors. Since leather is the big-ticket item for Fall 2012, I’ve put together the perfect transitional outfit that you can wear now till the snow falls.

For chilly summer evenings you can pair your leather skirt with a flowing, printed top. This adds a touch of masculinity to a sweet feminine outfit. In the fall and winter, it’s all about layering! Wear this skirt with a button down and sweater combo, or long sleeve T, vest and thick winter coat, sure to toughen up any winter look.

Don’t worry about breaking the bank when looking for leather inspired pieces, this classic black faux leather pencil skirt from Forever 21 is only $18. The leather adds a sexy and edgy flair but the calf length makes it office ready. Tuck in this layered contrast collar sheer blouse from Nell ($28) and finish it off with the bright yellow boyfriend Ponte blazer with rolled sleeves ($47) to tone down the Rock n’ roll and add that little bit of girly flair. I typically wear a white or nude camisole underneath any sheer shirt to make it more work wear friendly. I’ve polished this ensemble off with charming, gold tone River Island heart stud earrings – only $4.71!

Pair this outfit with your favorite pair of black pumps or flats and rock the leather with an entire ensemble for under $100!
