Beauty 101: Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder

by Anne Dreshfield | November 17th, 2014

As a lover of makeup, I tend to keep track of cult products that seem to get the job done, no matter the person’s skin type or skin tone. I read blog posts, watched YouTube videos, and heard makeup artists whisper about Kevyn Aucoin’s Sculpting Powder for what felt like years and never got my hands on it – every time I tried to hunt it down, it wasn’t available near me and was sold out online.

So this last week, when I headed into SpaceNK to check out a few of their holiday gifts, I felt like I was magnetically pulled toward the Kevyn Aucoin counter. And what did I find there? His infamous sculpting products…in both powder and cream form!

I immediately got to work swatching and testing out the products on my skin. My initial reaction: they were both incredibly easy to apply and blend. Believe me, when you normally try to blend out a bronzer with your fingers, it doesn’t end well. The Sculpting Powder just seemed to melt into my skin.

The amazing thing about the Sculpting Powder is that it never pulls orange – and I mean never. As a fair-skinned woman with cool undertones, this is somewhat unheard of. Thanks to the grey undertones in the powder, this simply doesn’t make you look like an Oompa Loompa. Rather, you get believable shadowing.

Say it with me now: incredible. And Kevyn Aucoin, please take all of my money.
