Today’s Coveted Working Look: Anthropologie Cartography Buttondown

by Anne Dreshfield | August 14th, 2014

Don’t you just love it when certain pieces give you fashion direction?

Anthropologie’s Cartography Buttondown does that for me, both in aesthetics and…well, quite literally. A cheerful map print, the Cartography Buttondown lives up to its name!

Where to begin with this blouse? I was flipping through the July catalog and it was really the cheerful colors that caught my eye first – those blues! Oranges! Bits of pink! I’ve never been known to shy away from color at Anthropologie, and oftentimes they do it quite well. Upon closer inspection, however, what I thought was a colorful abstract print wasn’t so abstract – at all.

This bright little number would work well in a variety of situations, and that’s the real beauty of it. I’d love to pair it with a pencil skirt to bring a more playful vibe to the office, but it could easily work tucked into a pair of chic trousers or jeans on casual Friday. And on the weekends? Pair it with your favorite pair of shorts and a wide-brimmed hat, and you can pretend you’re away on vacation, wandering the very streets on the map itself.

Do you ever reach for more playful pieces, like Anthropologie’s Cartography Buttondown? Would you work them into your working wardrobe?
