Online shopping often gets a bad rep for not being the best shopping experience. Compared to brick and mortar shopping trips, online shopping doesn’t allow you to feel the fabric of the clothing, try it on before you buy it, or interact with sales associates who can often offer good advice while purchasing decisions.
However, as a frequent online shopper myself, I must say that the cons of online shopping can often be outweighed by the pros, and Need Supply Co. is a prime example of this.
Need Supply Co. is a clothing store based in Richmond, VA, that got its start in 1996 by selling a collection of vintage Levi’s. Over the years the boutique has transformed into a much larger entity and now operates a full-fledged online shopping destination for both men and women, which is where most of their sales are done from. Their mission is to connect customers to the designers and brands they love, and they do a really, really, great job at it.
The most obvious perk of shopping on the Need Supply Co. site is that you get the chance to choose from a plethora of amazing fashion-forward designers they carry, which include indie brands such as A.P.C, Rachel Comey and Just Female, from the comfort of your home. However, the true stand out of the site is the trend-focused lookbooks they put out several times a year. They currently have lookbooks themed Highland Punk, Periphery and Parallels on their website, as you can see in the images below they’re as inspirational as any editorial spread in Vogue.
While the clothing on the website is exciting, the lookbooks add another element to the shopping experience that can help you create better outfits and consequently shop smarter. While there’s obviously not a sales associate able to help you as you peruse the Need Supply Co. website in your pajamas while simultaneously binge-watching Netflix and eating leftover pizza, the lookbooks can serve as the guidance you need to make smart styling decisions that are on trend.
