Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. New York. Toni Maticevski Puts Some Fantasty into the Workplace With His Fall 2010 Collection
It’s so much fun to take a break from talking about clothes that you can wear in the workplace and gossip about attire that you can wear out of the workplace – more specifically what you can wear to a gala or a fancy black tie affair. It’s still for work, but you can take your dress code and glam it up a bit! And that’s exactly what Toni Maticevski did with his collection during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. First of all, I usually prefer off-site shows during Fashion Week. It gives you a break from the tents and provides a more creative layout to compliment the fashion. In a wood-planked floor open space with side lighting and angled wooden structures throughout, with calming classical music in the background, models floated through the homemade runway with dove gray organza, silk and chiffon, hair pulled up tight with glittering dancer-like fashion. A few notes on wearing such fanciful attire for a fancy work event. Some of these items were quite sheer – make sure you wear a slip under your garment before shaking hands at a venue where you are near colleagues, partners and perhaps even the press. Also take note of some of the looks shown below that pair jackets with dresses – that is a fantastic addition to your ensemble if you want to add a hint of power and superiority to your glamorous attire. And of course, own your look - which wouldn’t be that difficult in any of these ensembles. Because what girl doesn’t want to look pretty? Personally, my favorite garb during the show was the gorgeous sunflower gold full skirt with fitted black bodice and accent feathers. Now to find a work gala to go to.
